The Cutler Trade Talk Is Ridiculous

I have been hearing the crazy talk about trading Romo for Cutler for several weeks now. Unfortunately, the Broncos have now announced that they are looking to trade Cutler so all of the Romo haters are firing up the talk about the trade again. You have got to be kidding me if you honestly believe that there is any chance on God's green earth that this will ever happen. But just to prove my point I decided to look at the stats of each player to show that Romo is the superior player. I took out the statistics accrued in non-starting appearances by Romo so it would be a fair comparison.

Age: Romo - 28, Cutler - 25
Games Started: Romo - 39, Cutler - 37
Completion %: Romo - 64%, Cutler - 63%
Passing Yds.: Romo - 10,300, Cutler - 9,024
Passing Yds./Game: 264, Cutler - 244
Avg./Attempt: Romo - 8.1, Cutler - 7.4
Passing TD's: Romo - 78, Cutler - 54
Passing TD's/Game: Romo - 2.0, Cutler - 1.5
Interceptions: Romo - 43, Cutler - 37
Int./Game: Romo - 1.1, Cutler - 1.0
Fumbles: Romo - 32, Cutler - 24
Fumbles/Game: Romo - 0.8, Cutler - 0.6
Passer Rating: Romo - 94.7, Cutler - 87.1
Playoff Record: Romo - 0-2, Cutler - 0-0

There is no reason to downgrade the quarterback position. The stats speak for themselves. Romo is the better quarterback in almost every category. Cutler has yet to lead a team to the playoffs after three seasons while Romo has already accomplished that feat twice in three seasons. And I didn't even go into the fact that the Cowboys cannot afford the cap hit that would occur if the trade were to happen or that Cutler isn't exactly proving to be a great leader with his childish complaints about trade speculation involving him at the start of free agency. I know most intelligent fans aren't proposing this trade but now you have the ammunition to prove that Romo is clearly the superior player when someone brings it up.

  1. I totally agree. The idiots running around talking about trading for Cutler are pissing me off. Romo will lead us to the Super Bowl!

  2. Is it ridiculous? Of course it is...but people shouldn't be putting Romo on such a high pedestal. Neither of them have done much of anything when it comes to december and january. We are better with Romo, but the Redskins would be alot better with Jay Cutler.

  3. STILL ROMO IS A CHOKER AND WILL NEVER WIN THE BIG GAMES, HIM AND GARRET HAS TO GO OR NO SUPERBOWL FOR ALONG TIME.STATS DON'T MEAN NOTHING WINS DOES AND I THINK CUTTLER IS BETTER THAN ROMO ANYTIME!

  4. What big game has Cutler ever won? He's never even been to the playoffs. The only fair way to compare them at this point is with stats. Romo wins more games than Cutler and puts up better numbers.

  5. Should be added Cutler's stats come in a REAL weak division, and got a lot of padding last season when seven Bronco RBs went down. And he's a diabetic who apparently drinks...bad combo. And he looks to be a bit of a drama queen given the current mess in Denver. Don't think you can blame Romo for December...sure looked like a team effort to me. Cutler to 'skins won't help them much this year (new system and all) and will blow the 'skins up draft/salary cap-wise in long run. I'm all for it.

  6. I'm not just talking about this past december...what about the last three seasons in December and January? Romo is better than Cutler by far, but they've mostly done the same thing when it matters. Nothing. To the guy that thinks Cutler won't help the Redskins this season, you think Jason Campbell would be better? Careful what you wish for.

  7. Jason Campbell better this season? Yep, I think so. Knows the system, big, strong, mobile, strong arm can make all the NFL throws, improving and not bad last season with the Gibb's blanket off. QB rating three points less than Cutler career #'s. Threw for 3200+ last year. Completed 63% and didn't throw an interception from Dec 2, '07 to Nov. 3, '08. Not bad...no INTs in 252 attempts. TD's low but TD/INT ratio better than 2. All that in a run-first offense and in the NFC Beast. And no health or mental baggage. Yeah, I'll stick by the statement. And signing Cutler after Haynesworth and Hall and all the dead money on the books already will cripple the 'skins. Sign him.

Bottom line, if you can't get past the 'skins with Cutler, you're not going to the SB anyway. He's just not that scary and he won't have B. Marshall.

  8. Not to worry anyway DB, Denver wants picks and DC ain't got enough. Detroit needs a QB and can deal #20 this year and a first round in 2010 (almost sure to be top five) and still pick # 1 this year. You can do the other combos. Cutler to Calvin Johnson would put butts in the seat. It makes so much sense, it probably won't happen. We're talking Lions here. Still, McMillen's gone so....

  9. Bears got him just as I posted last message. That makes a lot of sense too. And Bonus: JC now knows the 'skin don't really want him. Too good for words...another Epic Fail for Danny Snyder and his never-ending quest to be King of the Off Season. Hall is a talent but over-rated flake and malcontent, and Haynesworth will go back to part-time effort now the money's in the wallet.

Two ones a three and Orten. Ouch. Bear's franchise on the line. Orten's gotta be loving Marshall to the left of me and Royal to the right...So who's JC gonna pitch to?

  10. Cutler never had T.O. to throw to. And the only way Romo gets the Cowboys to the Super Bowl is to buy them all tickets.
