The Cowboys Should Win a Game Like This One

Heading into the game on Sunday it is pretty clear that the Cowboys are a heavy favorite.  I don't think this game will be a cake walk, but, if the Cowboys play a good game, they will win.  There are a lot of factors that make me feel confident heading into this game.

The biggest strength I see in the Cowboys right now is their defense.  Russell Wilson struggled last week against a traditional defense.  This week he'll be looking at different fronts and blitzes from all over the place throughout the game.  That is a tough task for a rookie quarterback starting his second game in the NFL.  I was very high on Russell Wilson going into the draft.  I was really hoping the Cowboys would take him in the middle rounds to develop.  He has a lot of talent.  He can run and he plays smart football.  I just don't think he is ready to face a defense as talented and sophisticated as the Cowboys just yet.

Tony Romo is always the x-factor for the offense.  If he plays well then the Cowboys usually win.  But the big concern on offense is the offensive line.  Last week Romo threw is only interception on a play where the Giants had pressure right in his face.  The line has to improve and do a better job giving Romo a clean pocket.

DeMarco Murray might be looking at a big game this week.  Not only will he be a big part of the game early on, but if the Cowboys can get out to a lead I'm sure the Seahawks will see a heavy dose of DeMarco Murray.  I won't be at all surprised if Murray gets 20+ carries again and goes over 125 yards.

I'm expecting to see the defense force at least two turnovers.  I won't be at all surprised if we see a fumble and one or two picks from Wilson.  If the Seahawks start turning the ball over early then this game could get out of hand very fast.  But if they play conservative and get Marshawn Lynch going it is going to make things tough on the defense.  Lynch is the only thing that could foil the plans of the Cowboys.  If he gets going it will open everything up for Wilson.  The defense should be focused on stopping Lynch early on.

I feel confident heading into this game but the Cowboys haven't shown nearly enough yet for me to be overconfident.  The penalties need to be reduced and the line has to block better.  I think we'll see improvement on both of those fronts.  I'm picking the Cowboys to win big 30-13.

  1. I was thinking along the same lines as you, 31-10 here. Hawks are not ready for a defense like ours. I just don't believe it will be as tuff to play and win in Seattle as it has been in the past. I see Kevin O. having another big game here as will Murray. I think we will see a lot less penalties on our side of the ball this time around, the line has had a week to work together. I see Romo throwing 3 TD's, passing for 275 yards with no INT's this game. I see our defense with 2 turn overs as well with 4 sacks. I very well see us holding the Hawks to 200 yards or less of total offense.

With Mike J. playing, only makes our defense stronger.

I would be very suprised that they blow this game. But anything is possible.

    Just my opinion.

  3. I didn't have our guys winning this game by 20 but I did think they'd win 27-24. I knew that the Seahawks had a good defense. I thought they were better than the team that lost to the Cardinals last week but then again, the Cardinals just went to Foxborough and beat the Patriots where the Pats rarely lose. So are the Cowboys good or bad? They beat the defending Super Bowl Champs but this week Tampa put 34 on the Giants in a game the Giants really should have lost. So has the win over the Giants lost something? I know, I know, it's early. Two games don't make a season but today's game was all-around terrible. But - head held high. They're 1-1 and have some winnable games coming up. Fingers crossed.

  4. Well, SHIT! Sorry for the language. It is what it is and we are a 500 team. EVERY ASPECT of todays game was bad. Coaching, play calling, exacution, throwing, catching, running, tackling, even the trainers where having a bad day on the sidelines. Good teams win ugly games, all there is too it. I, like many where fooled by the first game of the season. We let a ROOKIE quarterback throw all OVER US! Well, 151 yards ain't bad, I would take that every game, but dammit, he made the throws when he needed too. I new, I felt, I believed in my heart that we would go into the bye week at 4-0. Again, I let big Blue make me feel stupid once again. I grew up in West Texas and if you cut me, I bleed blue and grey. But you know, its getting harder and harder to believe, in and out, every season that one day we will return to the winning zone. I just don't know.

I don't care what anyone says, Seattle's defense is not that good, PERIOD!! Winnable game? This was, should have been a Winnable game! How we beat the Giants, is beyond me. I truly see in my heart, us going into the bye week, 2-2.

Broken hearted, venting. Thanks for listening!

  5. Well, its the next day. Still broken hearted. All I know is, this is the last time I try and predict anything. All I can hope for here on out is, we find some HEART, somewhere, somehow. Waiting for R2W to point out something good, anything good. No matter what it is. I can't find nothing.

    Bring on Tampa!!!!!!!

  6. SEA! HAWKS! SEA! HAWKS! SEA! HAWKS! Our defense IS that good. Ask your offense, and your D Coordinator, and your Special Teams, and your OWN Defense. Smashmouth is the blueprint to beat the 'Boys! GO SEAHAWKS!!!

  7. Why did you think Murray would put 125 yards on one of the best run defenses in the NFL? Seattle with Charlie Whitehouse hammered the Giants in NY last year so lets not get carried away Boys fans. Good luck for the season as I think the schedule doesn't look too challenging.
